What sustains you when trials and affliction come your way in The parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. This clip is one of the parables taken from the new film series THE PARABLES OF JESUS coming soon on SKY TV . Narrator Emma Brown..Written by Don Schwager and produced by Simon Brown. - Luke 16 HADES is portrayed here by Luke as an unbearably hot place set in a great chasm. The rich man looks up to see Abraham and Lazarus, and they look down onto him. Some people who believe that Heaven and Hell are non-physical entities, detached from our mortal world, have likened this story to a parable. The implication being that Jesus is describing what HADES might feel like, rather than an accurate representation of an actual place. But this story is quite different from other parables told by Jesus, not least because here he uses a real person, Lazarus, rather than a descriptive title, such as the good samaritan. In fact this is the only such story told by Jesus that is not referred to as a parable in the Bible itself. Lazarus of course is also the name of the man whom Jesus raises from the dead in the Gospel of John. Scholars do not typically conclude these two men to be one and the same, but I believe that this may very well be the case, and furthermore that this connection is deliberate and important. Various historical sources indicate that the resurrected Lazarus, brother of Mary Magdelene, travelled across Europe to France and then England following the resurrection of Jesus. Roman-style artwork in several French locations portray Lazarus the beggar becoming Lazarus the apostle. In the story above, Jesus described how the rich man begs Abraham to send Lazarus to his family, to tell them the truth of Heaven and HADES. Does it not seem possible, even likely that Jesus would grant the rich mans wish and return Lazarus to the living in order to do just that? Regardless of whether this is the case, Lazarus has also lent his name to a phenomenon which is central to determining the truth about the existence of HELL-HADES (and therefore by definition Heaven also),READ THE FULL ARTICLE. Hades is a place in the world not regularly finished; a subterraneous region, wherein the light of this world does not shine; from which circumstance, that in this region the light does not shine, it cannot be but there must be in it perpetual darkness. This region is allotted as a place of custody for souls, ill which angels are appointed as guardians to them, who distribute to them temporary punishments, agreeable to every one's behavior and manners.
