Josephs Tomb
Josephs Tomb son of Jacob is a shrine near the city of Nablus in the West Bank. It is traditionally considered by some religious branches to be the burial place of the Biblical patriarch Joseph, and is located in the Samaritan city of Shechem; others consider Joseph to have been buried next to the Cave of the Patriarchs, where a mediaeval structure known as the kalah (castle) is now located.
Genesis 50:25–26
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
Exodus 13:19
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel saying God will surely visit you and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
Joshua 24:32
And the bones of Joseph which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt buried they in Shechem in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
Some archaeologists believe that the site in Nablus is a few centuries old and could contain the remains of a Muslim sheikh named Yusef Al-Dwaik. According to Jewish texts Josephs body was taken from Egypt during the Exodus and later reinterred in Shechem in the specific spot purchased legally by Jacob.

In the last verses of Genesis it is told how Joseph adjured his relatives to take his bones back to Canaan whenever God should restore them to their original home and in Joshua 24:32 it is told how his body was indeed brought to Palestine and buried in Shechem. For centuries there was a tomb at Shechem reverenced as the Tomb of Joseph see photo. A few years ago the tomb was opened. It was found to contain a body mummified according to the Egyptian custom. and in the tomb among other things was a sword of the kind worn by Egyptian officials.
According to tradition Josephs sons Ephraim and Manasseh are also buried at the site.
