This article reflects long and thorough research which has led me to believe that Lazarus the Beggar that we see in Luke 16:19 is the one and same person as Lazarus, brother of Mary and Martha raised by Jesus in the gospel of John 11.

Please note I have used the word "Hell" as a metonym However it is generally believed by scholars that the word hell is "Gehenna," the lake of fire being the second death.(Revelation 20:14). and not ''Hades'' which is the proper translation in Luke 16:23, Matthew 11:23, Luke 10:15, Revelation 20:14, Revelation 1:18.

UPDATE 26/June/2013
My further interesting and important find and research on my ''theory'' of the rich man and his five brothers.
In my previous research I believed the rich man who went to Hades may be a brother in-law to the five brothers who was the sons of Annas who was the head of a powerful high-priestly clan, The Sadducees.
It must be noted, some Bibles may be using the wrong words. brothers instead of brethren. GREEK word adelphos
It now must be noticed in Luke 16:28. King James 2000 Bible (©2003) For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment
Notice it states
KJV: five brethren; that
We see what brethren; means
brethren plural of breth·ren (Noun)
Noun

Fellow Christians or members of a male religious order.
Used for humorous or rhetorical effect to refer to people belonging to a particular group.

This is precisely what Annas and the Sadducees were.

I Simon Brown believe Hades is a place of punishment, John 3:18, where the soul a part of a person exists beyond physical death Matthew 10:28.
In the afterlife, after the first death, where the soul is detained, kept or reserved in the 'Netherworld', 'Underworld', 'Sheol, Hades' 'PIT' Isaiah 14.15 Deuteronomy 32:22 2 Peter 2:9 Where the souls of the unsaved dead await Judgment Day, as they stand condemned.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son John 3:18. Hell is the neighbourhood of Hades as stated by Josephus's Discourse to the Greeks concerning Hades and or HIPPOLYTUS OF ROME and THE ENOCH FRAGMENTS:

Revelatory Thoughts on Luke 16:19. By Simon Brown

In this article I wish to present to you a tapestry of facts that when viewed with the eyes of one who searches for truth will present to you a compelling picture of the existence and destination of the life after the first death.

Many learned scholars, I believe, have misunderstood or simply missed what this article reveals so read on dear reader and as you read I will take you on a journey of discovery that is not only revelatory but I pray revolutionary to your life and your walk of faith.

May the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you in all truth so that your faith may be strengthened and your hope increased.

This article reflects long and thorough research which has led me to believe that Lazarus the Beggar that we see in Luke 16:19 is the one and same person as Lazarus, brother of Mary and Martha raised by Jesus in John 11.

Let’s look at this well known story.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendour every day.

20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,

21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich mans table.’

22"Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom and the rich man also died and was buried.

23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away * and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 "And he cried out and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.

25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony..

26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us’.27 "And he said, 'Then, I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house

28 for I have five brothers -in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29 "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets let them hear them.'

30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent ‘

31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'
(New American Standard Version) Luke 16:19

HADES is portrayed here by Luke as an unbearably hot place set in a ‘great chasm’. The rich man looks up to see Abraham, and Lazarus and Abraham look down onto him.

Some people who believe that Heaven and Hades are non-physical entities, detached from our mortal world, have likened this story to a parable. The implication being that Jesus is describing what Hades might feel like rather than an accurate representation of an actual place. Hades or Sheol we understand is a place for departed souls rather than a place of burial for if this was NOT the case dialogue between Abraham and Lazarus could not have happened.

But this story is quite different from other parables told by Jesus, not least because here he uses real people. In this story we find reference made to Abraham, Moses, The Prophets, The Rich Man, His Father and his five brothers.

This is worth noting as in no other parable does Jesus give a characters personal name but instead refers to the character saying ‘a certain man’ or ‘a sower’ etc.

He also refers to events and places that exist elsewhere in the Bible.

Interestingly in Luke 16:19 Jesus gives us a startling clue saying the rich man was dressed in purple and fine linen, when we know for a fact that this is how the Sadducees dressed. This is the Priestly Garments as in Exodus 28:8 so, this is the first clue in this puzzle that this rich man was a Sadducee. This was not a descriptive title as in the Good Samaritan Parable.

This story is the only story told by Jesus that is not referred to as a parable in the Bible. Its worth noting though at this point that a parable by definition is a ‘true to life’ story and so to have meaning it must in essence be a story that could have actually taken place whether it ever did or not.

Lazarus of course is also the name of the man whom Jesus raises from the dead in the Gospel of John. Scholars do not typically conclude these two men to be one and the same. I believe, however, that this may very well be the case and furthermore that this connection is deliberate and important. Various historical sources indicate that the resurrected Lazarus, brother of Mary Magdalene, travelled across Europe to France and then England following the resurrection of Jesus. Roman-style artwork in several French locations portray Lazarus the beggar becoming Lazarus the apostle.

27 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house -
28 for I have five brothers in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
Luke 16:

In the story above, Jesus described how the rich man begs Abraham to send Lazarus to his family, to tell them the truth of Heaven and HADES/HELL. Does it not seem possible or even likely that Jesus would grant the rich man’s wish and return Lazarus to the living in order to do just that?

It is likely that the five brothers were members of the sect or group of Jews who were active in Ancient Israel during the Second Temple Period that started from the 2nd Century BC through to the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

Luke 16:19

In Luke we have The Rich man and Lazarus account and in John 11 we have the account of the man Lazarus who was raised from the dead by Jesus.

Here we have two Lazarus’, in 2 gospels and 2 men who are identical, both called Lazarus, both of whom died and both of whom would not convince people by their resurrection.

In Luke 16:22 Lazarus the beggar dies

22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom and the rich man also died and was buried.

25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things but now he is being comforted here and you are in agony.

26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.

27 "And he said, 'Then, I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house

28 for I have five brothers -in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

As we read above, the rich man pleads and begs Abraham to send Lazarus to his Fathers house and warn his five brothers. I believe that this is an actual event rather than a parable as through my research I have discovered information that makes mention of them.

Wikipedia the free enclycopedia gives us this information: Annas who officially served as High Priest for ten years (6–15 AD), when at the age of 36 he was deposed by the procurator Gratus 'for imposing and executing capital sentences.

This had been forbidden by the imperial government. Yet while having been officially removed from office, he remained as one of the nation's most influential political and social individuals, aided greatly by the use of his five sons and his son-in-law as puppet High Priests

How interesting is this information. It was Annas who was the head of a powerful high-priestly clan, The Sadducees. It was the family of Annas who were the Sadducees that the rich man in Hades/Hell was begging for Lazarus to go to his 5 brothers and warn them not to come here.

The Sadducees only held to the ‘Law of Moses’ which is why they were dressed in fine linen. They rejected the traditions of the Pharisees and did not agree with them.

The Sadducees only accepted the written Torah as the authoritative law and their position as priests gave them authority which they would wield as their source of power.

They did not believe in the ‘resurrection of the dead’ but believed that a persons soul dies with his body.

They denied the resurrection of the body in Mat 22:23, Luke 20:27, Acts 4:1-2, 23:8.

They did not believe in the existence of Angels or Spirits. (Acts 23:8)

Furthermore, the Sadducees rejected the Oral Law as proposed by the Pharisees.

According to Josephus, the historian, the Sadducees believed that:
  • There is no fate

  • God does not commit evil

  • Man has free will; “man has the free choice of good or evil”

  • The soul is not immortal; there is no afterlife, and there are no rewards or penalties after death.

Throughout history we see different schools of thought emerging just as in the days of Josephus and one of them is the doctrine of ‘soul sleep’.

Soul sleep

Let me now talk to you about something called ‘soul sleep’. It is a belief that many believers both teach and believe today. The basis of it is that when we die we go into sleep mode, we are not aware or conscious during this time and we continue to sleep until Judgment Day.

Hades is the New Testament equivalent of the Old Testament word Sheol. The Greek and Hebrew words speak of the same place, the present Hell. However, this can be confusing because Sheol has been translated "grave" as often as it has "Hell" and some have mistakenly taught that Sheol and Hades are only references to the grave rather than Hell. Therefore this teaching leads to the denial of the existence of an immediate or present Hell. The false doctrine of soul-sleep, and other ideas that teach the unconscious state of the dead between death and resurrection, spring from this error.

I believe that this doctrine that teaches people that after we die we sleep until judgment day has taken out the fear of living in sin.

When we understand that Hell is a real place it brings a consciousness of how we live our everyday lives to the forefront of our thinking and therefore affects how we live and act, speak and make decisions. In short, it acts as a deterrent whilst we are living.

An example that came to my mind when writing this is of when I was a child and was naughty at school. For my bad behaviour I ended up getting the cane across my bottom as a punishment. Did it teach me a lesson, well put it like this I can still remember the pain and it taught me a lesson. I feel without it I could have continued doing wrong as every time I felt like being naughty I would remember that cane on my bottom.

Hell once experienced is never forgotten, there are those who have had supernatural visions of Hell and are never the same again. They find themselves on their knees interceding and praying for the unsaved with a passion and a fervour such as they never knew before.

The faces of those they saw in Hell haunt them and their screams still ring in their ears.

Remember also, this in scripture: and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.

What an awful and sobering warning that Gods punishment for sin is Hell, fiery flames of torment. He has made it clear to us in Isaiah 57:21 ‘There is no peace’ says my God ‘for the wicked’.

In 1947 fragments from the book of Enoch were unearthed in Qumran saying ‘Woe to you for ye shall have no peace’.

Josephus in his Discourse to the Greeks concerning Hades and or HIPPOLYTUS OF ROME wrote: the souls of the unjust and those that have been disobedient to God are dragged down to HADES/HELL by force and do not stand clear of the hot vapour itself.

How terrible to adhere to a belief all your life as the rich man, Saduccee and son in law of Annas did. To find out way too late that you were wrong and there is nothing you can do about it but beg for mercy. We see him request out of desperation: 27 "And he said,'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house.

His father is of course Annas the High priest, the ruling power behind the Saducees responsible later for the arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus. Annas is the father of the 5 brothers and a force to be reckoned with as he was able to exert power and authority through his position.

12 So the Roman cohort and the commander and the officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound Him, 13 and led Him to Annas first ; for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.

Friends, I believe the rich man who awoke in Hades was a son-in law of Annas. In fact there is an amazing statement made in the Talmud that records and describes the family of Annas in not a particularly favourable light.

“Woe to the house of Annas!
Woe to their serpent’s hiss!
They are high priests;
their sons are keepers of the treasury,
their sons-in-law are guardians of the temple,
and their servants beat people with staves.”
(Pesahim 57a)

Did you notice the 5th verse down, it states - their sons-in-law are guardians of the Temple.

So from here, we see Annas had sons and sons- in- law.
I believe that the rich man was one of the guardians of the temple. The rich man in Hell/Hades was a son-in-law of Annas.

The rich man begged:
27 "And he said, ' Then, I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house
28 for I have five brothers-in order that he may warn them.

Before the rich man died he knew about Jesus who was preaching at the time.
It was the same person, Lazarus of Bethany, whom Jesus raised from the dead who was hungry and ill may have be Infected with leprosy and had sores that was laid at this rich man's gates and this is why Jesus made a point of telling us what the rich man was wearing

Remember Luke 16:19 tells us "Now, there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day’.

We read in Exodus 28:8 of The Priestly Garments:
8 "The skillfully woven band, which is on it, shall be like its workmanship, of the same material: of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen.

Below is the scripture showing the involvement of Annas in the arrest of Jesus.
John 18:12
Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him
13 and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.
14. Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people.
John 18: 23 “If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied, “testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?”
24 Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the High Priest.

Caiaphas the High Priest was one of Annas’ son in laws.

The names of the sons and son in law of Annas were as follows:

1. Eleazar - Son

2. Jonathan - Son

3. Theophilus - Son

4. Matthias - Son

5. Annas II - Son

6. Caiaphas – Son in Law

Ananus II is the person who caused Jesus the Lord's brother James, to be stoned to death. We also know that it was the youngest son of Annas, Annas II, who was one of the 5 brothers who was High Priest when James, the brother of Jesus, was killed in AD 62.

Josephus describes him as “a bold man in his temper and very insolent; he was also of the sect of the Sadducees, who were rigid in judging offenders” (Jos. Ant 20:199).

Josephus describes here:
“Now the report goes, that this elder Annas proved a most fortunate man; for he had five sons, who had all performed the office of
high priest to God, and he had himself enjoyed that dignity a long time formerly, which had never happened to any other of our high priests” (Ant 20:198)

Annas and his family were greedy and notorious for money. They became very rich through the exploitation and oppression of the poor. had market stalls on the Mount of Olives and inside the temple complex, they owned the monopoly on the sale of sacrificial animals, as well as running the exchanging of money into temple coins at exorbitant prices.

It is no surprise they hated Jesus and wanted him out the way when he turned up at the temple and overturned the money tables.

And he taught, saying unto them ,is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? But, you have made it a den of thieves. Mark 11:17

During my research my good friend, Bob Mitchell, a most learned man, told me that not only were they selling sheep and exchanging money etc but at high rates and their servants used to beat people who were reluctant to pay their prices. They even stole the grain offering that was meant for the older priests. So, many of these older priests simply starved to death because Annas' family and their gang had taken the food from these older priests’ mouths. All of this goes a long way in building up our tapestry to provide us with a picture of the time.

Now we can see why the rich man treated the beggar with contempt and indifference, this was the family's nature as we have read above the rich mans greed was the opposite to loving our neighbours as God taught in fact it was only weeks before Jesus told them about the parable of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. He was challenging the religious leaders through the parable as to why the priest and Levite failed to stop to help the poor and needy and yet an outsider, a Samaritan who was despised by the Jews, came to the rescue? In the parable the Levite approached the victim, but stopped short of actually helping him.

Similarly, the rich man did to Lazarus when he was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich mans table.

Later we have in the same gospel of Luke, Jesus telling us about the greedy rich man who ended up in hell who was probably one of the local religious Mafia.

The rich man cared only for himself, a selfish and greedy attitude, he did not spare a thought to saving his neighbour but ended up finding his life affected by his fortunes reversing similar to the story in

Exodus 1:22 Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile.

Here is a man with a selfish agenda borne out of a heart that is fearful and insecure.

Then we read in Exodus 13, God delivers his people from Egypt through the Red Sea while Pharaohs army follows them. God intervenes by drowning the Pharaohs army in the Red Sea.

18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.

26 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.”
27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the LORD swept them into the sea.
28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.

So we clearly see here how God reverses the situation. The rich man becomes the beggar begging for a drop of water from Lazarus who was the beggar but is now in comfort in paradise.

"But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. Luke 16:25

Now we also can understand why the beggar Lazarus went to paradise, as till now there was nothing to tell us he was a believer but now we know that not only did Lazarus the beggar know Jesus, we are told Jesus loved him.

1 Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.) 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” John 11.

Unless we have the understanding that both Lazarus’ in the 2 gospels are the same person the story of the rich man and the beggar in Luke 16:19 would not make any sense whatsoever.

Why would God send a rich man to hell just for being rich and a beggar to heaven just because he was a poor beggar.

I believe Luke 16:19, The Rich Man and Lazarus is as simple as it appears, just as Jesus would want it to be. The truth about life after death, Heaven and Hell and born again believers and unbelievers’ ultimate destination.

Yet sadly we find the people who believe Luke 16:19 to be a parable and not literal, real scenes have written articles that are nearly as long as the whole book of Luke itself with explanations far more complicated to understand then it really is.

If we understand that Lazarus in John 11 was a follower of Jesus as we know he was and the rich man in Luke 16:19 was a son in law of Annas who was part of local religious Mafia who treated the beggar with contempt and indifference. The story then all adds up to making perfect logical sense. But if we believe this story to be a mere parable, then that which is a true story, becomes impossible to understand.

For example this world has always had beggars so does that mean all beggars are going to be saved by being a beggar. Sadly there are many beggars who don't believe in Jesus and believe in life after death.

The Bible makes it very clear that we are all saved by faith in Jesus Christ definitely not through our financial poverty.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. Acts 2:21

Lazarus was saved because he believed in Jesus. Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. John 11:5. Lazarus the beggar was saved and went to Abraham bosom, paradise.

Now we see the person Lazarus in the story of the rich man and the beggar in Luke 16:19 has to be the same person as in John 11.

The rich man was a Sadducee and did not believe in Jesus Christ or in resurrection.

That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. Matthew 22:23

Lazarus was a believer and saved because he was the same Lazarus in John.

“Lord, the one you love is sick.” John 11. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.

Lazarus's could have had leprosy. As Lepers were not allowed to mingle with those who were uninfected, which may be one of the reasons he was not at home but out side the rich man's porch.

Leprosy caused its patients throughout history to be considered "unclean" or "cursed by God" as outcasts.

This could explain why the rich man would not go near him, even if he could pay him and was not financially poor.

Worldwide, two to three million people are estimated to be permanently disabled because of leprosy. India has the greatest number of cases, with Brazil second and Myanmar third. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A 23-year-old man infected with leprosy.

Simon the Leper is also sometimes identified as the same person as Lazarus of Bethany. You can read this on my up date from Wikipedia at the end of this article.

Here below we see how angry God was with the evil deeds of the Sadducees as we see the strongest language ever said by Jesus 33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Now the rich man realised that Jesus was who he claimed to be, but it was too late.

The Sadducees were following in their fathers footsteps when their fathers killed the prophets that God sent to save them. They developed a reputation for corruption and now the Sadduces wanted to kill Jesus who was sent to save their souls as well. But instead of accepting Jesus as God they used this as an excuse for blasphemy to crucify him and in return condemning themselves as we see with the rich man, son in law of Annas trapped in Hades.

Jesus made it clear he is not mocked, he knows their evil ways and cruel hearts, he told them straight because of their evil deeds and unbelief unless they repented Hades would be their home, which Lazarus has seen and proven to be a real place, a place that would be impossible to escape the damnation. For the rich man it was too late, he was already there now seeing things he never believed in, things he may have joked about things he used to laugh at, but now instead he was crying.

24 "And he cried out and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'

But it was too late for the rich man there was no going back there was no second chance. The rich man was now in Hades the neighbourhood of hell itself; for good and he knows his evil family his father in law Annas and his 5 Sons were following in his steps soon to join him unless they repented and believed.

In fact, we see in the gospel of Mark how the Sadducees challenged Jesus’ doctrine in the resurrection and life after death. Jesus puts them straight and defends his belief in resurrection by stating

“and as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said to him ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ He is God, not of the dead, but of the living; you are quite wrong.” said Jesus. Mark 12:26.

The rich mans’ 5 brothers-in-laws, Caiaphas and Annas, still had the grace of God, Jesus Christ walking with them still giving them a chance to believe and repent.

By Jesus raising Lazarus back from hades and returning his soul back to his dead body to warn his family of hell.

If they would only believe Lazarus but in stead as we know Abraham made a prophecy in Luke 16:31 when he said 31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.' "

This was fulfilled when Caiaphas, Annas, and hiss five sons would not believe and plotted to have Lazarus killed when Lazarus was raised by Jesus from the dead (John 12:10)

Here in (John 12:10) we can pick up another important clue. So, the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

Why did the Sadducees now want Lazarus dead after being resurrected?

From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry we see him performing many miracles helping the blind crippled and the lame.

Jesus Heals an Official’s Son John 4:45.

So here we have just some of the many people Jesus heals. Yet we find one certain fact, very different from Lazarus, who was raised from the dead in John 11:38-44 we read, So, the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

Why did they want Lazarus dead but not any one of the many people who were healed above?

I believe it is because when Lazarus returned back from HADES with a chilling message from the rich man to give to his 5 brother-in-laws the Sadducees who did not believe in life after death, they went mad at him and now wanted Lazarus dead as well. They believed they were right and refused to be challenged on their long held views. Pride is very often the downfall of man just as it was for Lucifer himself.

Just as Abraham had prophesied: 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.' Luke 16:31

We also find something very interesting with both Lazaruses’ behaviour in the 2 different gospels of Luke and John. Lazarus does not say a single word in any of them. He is only talked about by Abraham and the rich man in Luke and by John in John 12. Lazarus was silent in both gospels.

During my research I stumbled upon this interesting fact.

According to tradition, Lazarus never smiled during the thirty years after his resurrection, worried by the sight of unredeemed souls he had seen during his four-day stay in Hades. The only exception was, when he saw someone stealing a pot, he smilingly said: "the clay steals the clay.’

Why did Jesus wait two more days?

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, 7 and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.” John 11:5. As we read above John does not give us any idea why Jesus waited for 2 more days before leaving and raising Lazarus from the DEAD.

Is this another clue?

We read:

John 16:2 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried.

In Luke 16:22 we see that LAZARUS dies, but was not buried. In John 11 we see LAZARUS dies also and was not buried, but laid in a tomb.

Then we read and the rich man also died and was buried. Luke makes it clear LAZARUS was not buried, while the rich man was buried.

SO WHY DID JESUS WAIT TWO MORE DAYS?

Was Jesus waiting for the rich man to die so that the rich man would see LAZARUS and be proved wrong with what the rich man believed that “Souls die with the bodies”. Maybe he wanted to return Lazarus back to the living in order to warn and prove his father and brother in laws that the soul does not die.

If only they had believed Lazarus. So, the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well.

Jesus was very angry with this crowd and rightly too as we read below.
Seven Woes on the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees
Matthew 23 (New International Version)

13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

16 “Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’

17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

18 You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’

19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

20 Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.

21 And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.

22 And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.

23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which looks beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.

28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.

30 And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.

32 Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!

33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

36 Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.

37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Dear readers, you may be thinking where is the evidence to support this. I will say I like to keep the best things till last which I hope to prove right now. I first discovered this fact of the 2 Lazarus’ being the same person some years ago when I asked a writer to right about an article called the sounds of Hell. READ MORE HERE

When I read the finished article I noticed that the writer had done some wonderful research and discovered that he found out that this theory of the 2 Lazarus’ being the same person was known for some time but not accepted by most scholars.

I researched it then but could not come up with any meaningful answers. In 2011 my wife urged me to write about Hell and so I returned to my research.

While studying the subject I noticed that there was nowhere in the Bible itself that tells us that Hades is a real physical place with the exception of the story of Luke 16:19 The Rich Man and Lazarus. I also discovered that this was one of the most debated and misunderstood subjects ever.

I have received more comments on you tube from my video of Luke 16:19 than any other article or video I have made. CLICK HERE TO WATCH

So what is the truth?

When I first searched the Bible to see if the 2 stories of Lazarus in Luke 16:19 and in John 11 were in the right order, although I still believed them to be the same person I could not find anything to link them together.

New Clues

One evening my Internet went down for no reason, this was the first time this happened and I could not search the website for any clues. So instead of wasting time doing nothing I picked up The Expositor's Study Bible by Jimmy Swaggart

I had this Bible for some time collecting dust on the shelf. I liked to read his comments so looked at Luke 16:19 to see what he believed, when suddenly I found myself looking at his comment saying that after Jesus told the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19 it was a few days later, the Lord did raise a man named Lazarus from the grave.

This is just what I wanted to hear as it was the missing link in my mind and a very important part of the puzzle that I could not work out. However, now I found it written down by one person at least saying exactly what I had already believed. However was I to take the word of just one person? NO.

With new excitement I got back on the Internet the next day after finding a minor problem with my router and continued some very deep searching, going through many pages and articles to find any more clues. Suddenly, I felt like I hit the jackpot.

I found a wonderful long detailed article by Keith. L. Yoder. University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He wrote:

From Luke to John: Lazarus, Mary and Martha in the Fourth Gospel

While Jesus was on his way to raise Lazarus Jesus told the disciples the story of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar.

EVIDENCE FOR LITERARY RELATIONSHIP (Parallel elements listed in Lukan textual order) and in his Conclusion, he states:

I have presented in this paper an array of literary correspondences between the respective Lazarus-Mary-Martha narratives of Luke and John along with their implications for inter-textual influence and precedence. Aside from any historical or theological considerations, I find on literary grounds that the relationship thus displayed is best understood as running from Luke into John. These correspondences are not for the most part found in the standard lists of Synoptic "parallel passages", so they have been largely invisible to scholarship. Once they are taken into account, I believe they show unmistakably in the case of these texts what Bacon, Barrett and others have previously suggested: that John knew Luke, and that he used and creatively reworked the literary material available to him there.
There is a link at the end of this article to Keith L. Yoder full article.

I continued to search for any more convincing evidence and found the proof started to stack up. Below I have copied some information and added a few more facts.

The plot to kill Lazarus of Bethany

The involvement of the family of Annas may be implied in the plot to kill Lazarus of Bethany in John 12:10. Although Annas is not mentioned by name in the plot to kill Lazarus, several 19th Century writers such as Johann Nepomuk Sepp and the Abbé Drioux, considered that there may be a concealed reference to Annas in the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus which points at a "Rich man" with five sons. If it is considered that rich man dressed in purple and fine linen (cf. Exodus 28:8) represents Caiaphas, as figurehead of the Sadducees, then Annas is intended by the "father" in Luke 16:27, and the "five brothers" Luke 16:28 are Annas' five sons. In support of this is the coincidence that the father and five brothers who will not be convinced even if the parable Lazarus is raised from the dead (Luke 16:31) predict that Caiaphas, Annas, and the five sons of Annas would not believe and plotted to have the real Lazarus killed when he was raised (John 12:10). From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Let us now examine a few facts.

29 "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets let them hear them.'

This tells us that the Old Testament was already written and also makes sense as to why Jesus told the story of the rich man while he was on his way to raise Lazarus from the dead as the rich man had just died.

The name Lazarus (from the Hebrew: אלעזר, Elʿāzār, Eleazar - Means "God is my help

We see the 2 identical names in Luke 16:19 and John 11.

We know God helps both Lazarus’ in both Gospels. In Luke's gospel Lazarus is taken by the angels to paradise, In Johns gospel Lazarus is raised from the Dead. So the meaning of Lazarus name means what it says, God is my help. The meaning is the same for both Lazarus’ so they must be the same person.

In the gospel of John we are told about Lazarus physical life.

In the gospel of Luke we are told about Lazarus spiritual life.

There are stories today of those who have died and their souls have floated out of their bodies in what is called a Near Death Experience. In some stories cardiac arrest victims are revived with many stories recounting a feeling or experience of being in hell with fire burning and in great pain then suddenly feeling better then ever before, feeling incredibly well and bathed in a bright light followed by a feeling of great joy and happiness. Some claim to have met relatives there, their children and even seeing Jesus there to welcome them in. READ MORE HERE

In Johns’ gospel, Lazarus is dead for 4 days, so where did his soul go? We know by the scriptures that when man dies he has a soul that departs from the body as told here:

“When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.” Peter 2:24-25

The verse above proves that mans’ souls still live on after being slain.

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But fear Him rather who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

The verse above proves again that mans’ soul lives on after death.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

The body is a small matter in comparison with the soul. Temporal death is a slight thing compared with eternal death. He directs them, therefore, not to be alarmed at the prospect of temporal death, but to fear God, who can destroy both soul and body forever. This passage proves that the bodies of the wicked will be raised up to be punished forever.

There are many verses in the pages of the Bible that tell us we have a soul that lives on after death.

Abraham's Bosom

So where did Lazarus soul go while his dead body was laid in the tomb for 4 days?

Luke 16:22 told us in the story of the Rich man and Lazarus, his soul went to Abraham's bosom.

"Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom’.

Lazarus body was asleep/dead for 4 days, while his soul went to the same place as Jesus soul did when Jesus body was dead for 3 days and laid in the tomb.

"For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Matthew 12:40

Jesus’ soul descended into a compartment in Hades, the same place that we are told by Luke, where Lazarus soul departed to after his body died in John 11.

Here Peter tells us Jesus visited Hades.1 Peter 3:19 (NKJV) by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison. This is Abraham’s bosom where Jesus visited the saints.

Is Peter talking about compartments in a pit in the earth I wonder? In the verses below are I believe Hades/Sheol/Underworld.

Lamentations 3:6 He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead
Lamentations 3:55 I called on your name, O LORD, from the depths of the pit

Ezekiel 26:20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of long ago. I will make you dwell in the earth below, as in ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, and you will not return or take your place in the land of the living.

What Is Hades?

Josephus states the following:

Hades is a place in the world not regularly finished; a subterraneous region, wherein the light of this world does not shine.

Hades, is a place of perpetual darkness which is a region allotted as a place of custody for souls.

Psalm 88:6 (New King James Version)
6. You have laid me in the lowest pit,
In darkness, in the depths.

We do know that Jesus brought the souls of those who were in the Old Testament Paradise into Heaven with Him after he rose from the tomb.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
Matthew 27:51

Luke 16:19 tells us that Hades had two compartments: Paradise and Torment. Lazarus went to the Paradise side but the rich man went to the Torment side.

However this is very interesting we find that Enoch states that there are four compartments, one being Paradise where the saints lived.

The Book of Enoch, by R.H. Charles, [1917], at sacred-texts.com

CHAPTER XXII

1. and hence I went to another place and he showed me in the west another great and high mountain of hard rock.

2. and there were four hollow places in it, deep and very smooth: three of them were dark and one bright; and there was a fountain of water in its midst. And I said: ‘How smooth are these hollow places and deep and dark to view.'

Interestingly, Enoch gives an identical description of one hollow place that had light and water and I believe this to be Abraham's bosom/paradise but the other 3 hollow places were dark.

We then have the book of Ephesians confirming with The Book of Enoch,
Jesus soul descended into Hades. Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? Ephesians 4:9 NKJV

So we have these verses below.
1 Psalm 88:6
2 Lamentations 3:6
3 Lamentations 3:55
4 Ezekiel 26:20

This confirms that the soul of man went deep into the earth to the Paradise side or Torments side. In the Bible verses above, "sleep" is simply another term for death of the body, the flesh. Just as Jesus said “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, and then stated 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. John 11:11

11 “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
12 Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.”
13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.
14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. John 11:11

So, Jesus makes it clear here that Lazarus body was asleep/dead. His body was laid in the tomb. His body knew nothing and this confirms with the many Bible verses below in the Old Testament that are talking about the body being asleep or dead which are both the same thing.

Job 14:10 Job 14:14 Psalm 6:5 Psalm 49:15 Daniel 12:2 John 5:28-29 John 3:13 Acts 2:29-34 2 Peter 3:4

In the Bible verses above, "sleep" is simply another term for death of the body, the flesh. Just as Jesus said “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, and then stated 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. John 11:11 and at the same time we have Luke talking about a person who had just died with the identical name and his soul was saved. Is that merely a coincidence.

Before the cross of Jesus, after death, the soul departed from the dead body and went in to Hades which is a holding place for our souls confirmed by Matthew 10:28.

2 Peter 2:9 1 KJV and to reserve the unjust. 2 NAS and to keep the unrighteous.23

How can you keep or reserve something if there is no soul that lives on to reserve or keep for the day of judgment? But we know that there are different compartments in Hades as we have seen above and Lazarus went to the paradise side which could be seen by the rich man who was lower down. Luke 16:23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes . The rich man looks up.

Why did all mans souls go down to Hades?
Luke 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed. The believers and unbelievers could see each other but could not get to each other.

Jimmy Swaggart states this as well.
This is in the heart of the earth (Mat. 12:40) before the cross of Jesus even though all who went to paradise were comforted, they were still captives of Satan, with him hoping that ultimately he would get them over into the burning pit

Therefore He says:
“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

9 (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? Ephesians 4:8-9

This means that when believers died before the cross, due to the fact that the blood of bulls and goats could not take away sins the sin debt remained and Satan still had a claim on them, so all those in paradise were awaiting the cross, which would deliver them.

This is precisely why the bodies of the saints: many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection Matthew 27:52

Here we clearly see many bodies of the saints were asleep (dead) just like the bodies of Jesus and Lazarus that were laid in the tomb but the believing souls of the saints, Lazarus and Jesus were conscious not dead or asleep as Jesus preached to them by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, the soul was conscious, not dead or asleep but in a compartment called paradise which was in Hades. Both are identical Lazarus was raised from Hades, paradise side back into his dead body. The saints were raised from Hades, paradise side back in to their dead bodies which is why their graves were opened: they went into the holy city and appeared to many. The same as Lazarus, his tomb was opened, and walked after his soul returned back to his dead body.

Because you will not leave my soul in hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. King James 2000 Bible (©2003) Acts 2:27

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
In Revelation 20:13-14, it is connected with death: "And death and hell (Hades) delivered up the dead which were in them"; "And death and hell (Hades) were cast into the lake of fire." See also Revelation 6:8; Revelation 1:18, "I have the keys of hell and death." In 1 Corinthians 15:55 it means the grave: "O grave (Hades), where is thy victory?" In Matthew 11:23 it means a deep, profound place, opposed to an exalted one; a condition of calamity and degradation, opposed to former great prosperity: "Thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell" (Hades). In Luke 16:23 it is applied to the place where the rich man was after death, in a state of punishment: "In hell (Hades) he lifted up his eyes, being in torments." In this place it is connected with the idea of suffering, and undoubtedly denotes a place of punishment. The Septuagint has used this word commonly to translate the word שׁאול Shèowl

29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,
31 He foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. Acts 2:29.

38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”
43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
John 11:38

The moment born again believers die our spirit and soul go to be with the Lord. Our physical body begins to decay, but our soul and spirit go on to eternal life straight away.

The moment the unbeliever dies his body is dead but his soul lives on and descends to Hades just as the rich man did who did not believe it was all possible.

Paradise was moved by Jesus to heaven with him Matthew 27:51 and this compartment in Hades that was called Abraham's bosom paradise is now empty because all born again believers have been brought by the blood of Christ. As Christ was resurrected so are they who believe in him Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
Here below we see St Paul gives no intimation of an intermediate state between being at home in the body and being present with the Lord. There is not the slightest intimation here that the soul sleeps, or rather, that there is no soul.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 2 Corinthians 5:6 -10

Below is a verse from 2 Peter 2 which confirms with the stories told in The Book of Enoch and Josephus’ Discourse to the Greeks concerning Hades.

Josephus states clearly and the same story told by Jesus in Luke 16.19 is the same story told by Enoch where the souls of the unsaved dead awaited Judgment Day. The unrighteous are detained, kept or reserved.

I believe this is similar to what we do with criminals where they are kept in prison. Jesus told us in this verse below that the unsaved are already condemned, please don't take my word for this read what the Lord says here -

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son John 3:18

Is there any scriptural evidence of a fiery hell Hades in the earth.

For a fire is kindled in My nostril, and burneth unto the depths of the nether-world, and devoureth the earth with her produce, and setteth ablaze the foundations of the mountains. Deuteronomy 32:22 (English Standard Version)

For (A) a fire is kindled by my anger, and it burns to (B) the depths of Sheol, it devours the earth and its increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. New Revised Standard Deuteronomy 32:22

My anger has started a fire. It burns down to the kingdom of the dead. It will eat up the earth and its crops. It will set the base of the mountains on fire. New International Reader's Version (NIRV) Deuteronomy 32:22

The fiery seas of Lava that I believe to be Hell are deep under the Earth. The verses above prove that Sheol cannot be a grave but a literal place where there is fire. This passage from Deuteronomy suggests that God’s anger is what causes Hell to burn so hot and even to rise up and touch the edges of the living Earth. We may presume then that the eruption of molten lava from volcanoes may be a sign of God’s anger overflowing and threatening the living with his wrath.

Indeed, some residents of Iceland, which has a higher concentration of active volcanoes than any other country, speak of hearing the wailing voices of the damned for miles around during the fiercest eruptions.

A reminder perhaps of his awesome power and of what may happen to us if we refuse to hear him when he speaks to us.

A reminder of the rich man in the nether-world, the depths of Sheol, that burns down to the kingdom of the dead.

24 "And he cried out and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

Other Accounts

ENOCH said: ensnared and aflame;

JOSEPHUS said: and do not stand clear of the hot vapour itself;

JESUS SAID IN Luke 16:24. The rich man said I am tormented in this flame.

JESUS ALSO SAID IN Codex Sinaiticus Luke 10:15 And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted to heaven? Thou shalt be brought down to Hades.

Below is a section from the Enoch fragments agreeing with a literal story of the rich man and Lazarus, the words of the prophet Enoch dating back to before the days of Christ and unearthed in Qumran in 1947 along with the famous Dead Sea Scrolls. The book of Enoch is apocalyptic and terrifying, this being one of its more restrained passages:

And you, dead sinners, when you die they will say about you: "Blessed are the sinners, they saw during their lifetime the full extent of all their days. Woe to you, ye sinners, when ye have died, If ye die in the wealth of your sins and those who are like you say regarding you: "Blessed are the sinners: they have seen all their days and died honorably, and judgment did not happen during their lifetime." “And now they have died in prosperity and wealth, And have not seen tribulation or murder in their life; And they have died in honour, And judgment has not been executed on them during their life." You yourselves know that they will drag down your souls to Hades, and they will remain there in great anguish. Know ye,that their souls will be made to descend into Sheol and they shall be wretched in their great tribulation. And in darkness, ensnared and aflame; and your souls will enter the great judgment for all generations forever. Woe, unto you, for you are unable to rejoice. And into darkness and chains and a burning flame where there is grievous judgment shall your spirits enter; And the great judgment shall be for all the generations of the world. Woe to you, for ye shall have no peace.

Also below is an Extract out of Josephus’ Discourse to the Greeks concerning Hades.

1. Now, as to Hades, wherein the souls of the good things they see, and rejoice in the righteous and unrighteous are detained, it is necessary to speak of it. Hades is a place in the world not regularly finished; a subterraneous region, wherein the light of this world does not shine; from which circumstance, that in this region the light does not shine, it cannot be but there must be in it perpetual darkness. This region is allotted as a place of custody for souls, ill which angels are appointed as guardians to them, who distribute to them temporary punishments, agreeable to every one's behavior and manners. 2. In this region there is a certain place set apart, as a lake of unquenchable fire, where into we suppose no one hath hitherto been cast; but it is prepared for a day afore-determined by God, in which one righteous sentence shall deservedly be passed upon all men; when the unjust, and those that have been disobedient to God, and have given honor to such idols as have been the vain operations of the hands of men as to God himself, shall be adjudged to this everlasting punishment, as having been the causes of defilement; while the just shall obtain an incorruptible and never-fading kingdom. These are now indeed confined in Hades, but not in the same place wherein the unjust are confined. 3. For there is one descent into this region, at whose gate we believe there stands an archangel with an host; which gate when those pass through that are conducted down by the angels appointed over souls, they do not go the same way; but the just are guided to the right hand, and are led with hymns, sung by the angels appointed over that place, unto a region of light, in which the just have dwelt from the beginning of the world; not constrained by necessity, but ever enjoying the prospect of the good things they see, and rejoice in the expectation of those new enjoyments which will be peculiar to every one of them, and esteeming those things beyond what we have here; with whom there is no place of toil, no burning heat, no piercing cold, nor are any briers there; but the countenance of the and of the just, which they see, always smiles them, while they wait for that rest and eternal new life in heaven, which is to succeed this region. This place we call The Bosom of Abraham. 4. But as to the unjust, they are dragged by force to the left hand by the angels allotted for punishment, no longer going with a good-will, but as prisoners driven by violence; to whom are sent the angels appointed over them to reproach them and threaten them with their terrible looks, and to thrust them still downwards. Now those angels that are set over these souls drag them into the neighborhood of hell itself; who, when they are hard by it, continually hear the noise of it, and do not stand clear of the hot vapor itself; but when they have a near view of this spectacle, as of a terrible and exceeding great prospect of fire, they are struck with a fearful expectation of a future judgment, and in effect punished thereby: and not only so, but where they see the place [or choir] of the fathers and of the just, even hereby are they punished; for a chaos deep and large is fixed between them; insomuch that a just man that hath compassion upon them cannot be admitted, nor can one that is unjust, if he were bold enough to attempt it, pass over it. 5. This is the discourse concerning Hades, wherein the souls of all men are confined until a proper season, which God hath determined, when he will make a resurrection of all men from the dead, not procuring a transmigration of souls from one body to another, but raising again those very bodies, which you Greeks, seeing to be dissolved, do not believe [their resurrection]. But learn not to disbelieve it;

LUKE 16:19 MORE EVIDENCE

It is clear that the rich man was a person who lived as a Jew, is evident from Abraham being his father, as the rich man called him "And he cried out and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, Luke 16:24. And Abraham calling him Child, "But Abraham said, 'Child, Luke 16:25.
Abraham was the father of all Jews. And we read here 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, This indicates real people, a real story of real events.

It is clear that the rich man knew Moses and the profits "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets ; let them hear them.' Luke 16:29. Which indicates real people, a real story of real events.

The rich man lived joyously and feasts every day. 19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. The family of Annas were very rich this is why Jesus said there was a rich man, we know for sure they owned market stalls and the monopoly on the sales of sacrificial animals, as well as running the exchanging of money into temple coins. Being rich they could eat and drink to their delight. They could very easily afford servants to run their business while over seeing the work with little effort and enjoying there riches in there mansions.

Why did the rich man ask for water to cool his tongue if this is only a parable? There can be only one logical reason.
Send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, Luke 16:24. It is a fact that the deeper we go down in the earth the closer it is to the Earth’s core, the temperatures in the Earth’s core are estimated to be in the region of thousands of degrees, much hotter than any living thing or indeed man-made object could endure. Hotter in fact, than even the surface of the Sun. So we know for sure that it is incredibly hot, deep down, that it contains unexplained structures and molten lava, and that the Earth’s core is around 70% of the size of the moon.

What’s so extraordinary about that? Well ill tell you.
At the time when the Bible was written, some 2000 years ago, people knew none of this. There was no way to drill down into the earth, no way to show scientifically the presence of molten lava, or anything at all to suggest that the centre of the Earth was even hot. Anything, that is, except the word of God.
My anger has started a fire. It burns down to the kingdom of the dead. It will eat up the earth and its crops. It will set the base of the mountains on fire. Deuteronomy 32:22.
This is why the rich man asked for water to cool his tongue, his soul is in Hades, which is very near to the Earth’s core although he may not be in the Earth’s core YET. I believe the rich man can see Hell, "Gehenna," the lake of fire, the presence of molten lava, which is the lake of fire told in Revelation 20:14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Josephus's describes this very well:
Now those angels that are set over these souls drag them into the neighbourhood of hell itself; who, when they are hard by it, continually hear the noise of it, and do not stand clear of the hot vapour itself; In this region there is a certain place set apart, as a lake of unquenchable fire, where into we suppose no one hath hitherto been cast; but it is prepared for a day afore-determined by God.
Here again is a clear description of real events just as told and agreeing with Luke 16:19, A real event that has happened and a real event judgment day still to be fulfilled after the return of Jesus Christ, when his saints are resurrected, that marks the beginning of the Millennium in 1000 years time, Revelation 20:4-6 There is no indication of Luke 16:19 being a parable.

Joseph of Arimathea
Joseph of Arimathea who was secretly a disciple of Jesus, also believed that when we died our souls lived on just as Enoch and Josephus stated and just as Jesus taught. Joseph of Arimathea believed on death our souls departed from our bodies. We know this because at the Garden Tomb believed to be the tomb of Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea cut out a small window which is still there today.

Now this is important as the window was the soul hole called the nephesh a Hebrew word meaning soul hole to let out the soul.
So if we have a soul where did Lazarus, of John 11, soul go when he died? Luke tells us "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; Luke 16:22. Again confirming with Joseph of Arimathea who believed we have a soul that lives on giving more credit that Luke 16:19 was not a parable.
Click here to watch a small part of John Lingham at the garden tomb talking about the soul hole.

It is written by Andrea Mantegna Archaeology of The Bible:
The ancient Jewish people of the Bible did not believe that death meant total annihilation, or that we vanish completely at the moment of death. Death to them meant the loss of vitality and strength, but so long as the body or at least the bones remained, the soul or nefesh continued to exist. In its greatly weakened state, the nefesh sheltered in Sheol, the subterranean abode of the dead (Genesis 44:29; Job 10:21 ff; Isaiah 14:9 ff.), where it led a shadowy, meaningless existence.

A rich man.
We also read Joseph of Arimathea who was a rich man and a disciple of Jesus, who was apparently a man of wealth—and probably a member of the Sanhedrin,
As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, Matthew 27:57
In Luke 16:19 we read "Now there was a rich man, The rich man was a real person, just as Joseph was, and probably a member of the Sadducees.

More on the Bosom of Abraham
This was a place where the just enjoy the peace of heaven after death

phrase "Bosom of Abraham" refers to the place of comfort in sheol (Greek: Hades) where the Jews said the righteous dead awaited Judgment Day. Old Testament patriarchs. How ever the old Testament saints were taken up with Jesus when he was resurrected MATTHEW 27:52. The phrase "Bosom of Abraham" is found in Luke 16:22-23 in Jesus' story of the Lazarus and the Rich Man.

Abode of the righteous dead
According to 1st century Jewish beliefs, the dead were gathered into a general tarrying-place, the sheol of the Old Testament, and the Hades of the New Testament writings (cf. Luke 16:22, in the Gr. 16:23). Here, the righteous occupied an abode or compartment of their own which was distinctly separated by a wall or a chasm from the abode or compartment to which the wicked were consigned. The latter was a place of torments usually spoken of as Gehenna (cf. Matthew 5:29-30; 18:9ff, Mark 9:42 sqq. in the Latin Vulgate)- the other, a place of bliss and security known under the names of "Paradise" (cf. Luke 23:43) or "the Bosom of Abraham" (Luke 16:22-23). Here is something very interesting about Deuteronomy 32:22,
In the (English Standard Version) of Deuteronomy 32:22, it reads: For a fire is kindled in My nostril, and burneth unto the depths of the nether-world.

The verse above ''Netherworld''. appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh, the “Descent of Inanna to the Netherworld,” “Baal and the Underworld,” Here it is clear that the Mesopotamians believed there was a real physical place deep in the earth. we see that they used the same word in Deuteronomy 32:22, ''Netherworld''. How did the Mesopotamians know about the Deuteronomy 32:22, ''Netherworld.'' years before the first book of the Old Testament was even written. Which is now believed by scholars to be the book of Job, the oldest book in the Bible, written around 1500 B.C.

Ancient Near East
The Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia reads: The cultures of Mesopotamia (including Sumeria, the Akkadian Empire, Babylonia and Assyria), the Hittites and the Canaanites/Ugarits reveal some of the earliest evidence for the notion of a Netherworld or Underworld. From among the few texts that survive from these civilizations, this evidence appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh, the “Descent of Inanna to the Netherworld,” “Baal and the Underworld,” the “Descent of Ishtar” and the “Vision of Kummâ.”

In the New International Reader's Version (NIRV) of Deuteronomy 32:22 it reads: For a fire is kindled by my anger, and it burns to the depths of Sheol, devours the earth and its increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
The above translation uses the Old Testament word Sheol, a place where a fire burns in Gods anger, This proves that Sheol cannot be a grave as there is fire that burns in Sheol.
Was this a coincidence, or lucky guesswork by the authors of the Bible who states the fire devours the earth and its increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
I cannot believe that it is a coincidence, or lucky guesswork by the authors of the Bible and other stories of HADES and Hell that led them to describe Hades and Hell in such terms - being deep under the earth and fiery hot, with lakes of lava - that do rise from volcanoes, that do burn everything in its path. Exactly as it states. Deuteronomy 32:22 Is not symbolic, figurative or a figure of speech, but a matter-of-fact; Literal.

Clearly we see above and below the words all have the same meaning.

A metonym for "Hell" a place of punishment in the afterlife, literally underground, a place of suffering.
The modern English word Hell is derived from Old English hel, helle (about 725 AD to refer to a nether world of the dead)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia
Sheol /ˈʃiːoʊl/ -sheeohl or /ˈʃiːəl/ -əlshee; Hebrew שְׁאוֹל Šʾôl) is the "grave", "pit", or "abyss" in Hebrew. She'ol is the earliest conception of the afterlife in the Jewish scriptures. It is a place of darkness to which all dead go, regardless of the moral choices made in life, and where they are "removed from the light of God" (see the Book of Job). In the Tanakh sheol is the common destination of both the righteous and the unrighteous flesh, as recounted in Ecclesiastes and Job. When the Hebrew scriptures were translated into Greek in ancient Alexandria around 200 BCE the word "Hades" (underworld) was substituted for "sheol". (see Hellenistic Judaism). The New Testament (written in Greek) also uses "Hades" to refer to the abode of the dead. (Revelation 20:13) The belief that those in sheol awaited the resurrection either in comfort (in the bosom of Abraham) or in torment may be reflected in the story of the New Testament of Lazarus and Dives.

After their Deaths, The Rich Man is Buried, But Lazarus is laid in a tomb.
It is my belief that the rich man went to Sheol entered by the grave, being the first death, because here we read the rich man is buried and then finds himself in Hades, Sheol. and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, Luke 16:22. And we see that Lazarus in Luke 16:22 was not buried but carried away by the angels after his death. "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom Luke 16:22 In John 11 Lazarus is also not buried but laid in a tomb. Indicating that both Lazarus must be the same person. Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said. John 11:38. This part is very interesting as we shall see. I believe the rich man was buried in the ground the rich man also died and was buried. because he did not believe in the resurrection of the body in Mat 22:23, Luke 20:27, Acts 4:1-2, 23:8. They believed there was no need to preserve there dead body's,or have it wrapped with strips of linen.

Is this why the Rich man was buried?

We see a clear difference here.

Lazarus is not buried but laid in a tomb.
The rich man is buried with no mention of being laid in a tomb.
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
John 11:43

Jonah Matthew 12:40
Although the book of Jonah does not say he died the book does make it absolutely clear that Jonah was in the/A PIT.

Clarke's Commentary on the Bible, and Barnes' Notes on the Bible,
ALL agreeing below that the PIT is through death, that leads to Sheol, the region of the dead, into the underworld which is entered through the grave. Compare Isaiah 14:9, note; Psalm 6:5, note

Here is solid evidence that Sheol is a place where souls and spirits live, as we see in this verse of the Old Testament which gives the clearest prophecy about Lucifer. A place in the future where he will go.

The Fall of Lucifer

12 “ How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!

13 For you have said in your heart:
‘ I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’

15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.

16 “ Those who see you will gaze at you,

And consider you, saying:
Isaiah 14:12 to 16
New King James Version (NKJV)

15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,
to the depths of the pit.
Isaiah 14.15. New International Version (NIV)

There are many bible verses which state that Sheol, Hades, or the Underworld, has compartments or rooms as the verses below defines.
Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the rooms of death. Proverbs 7:27 World English Bible
Her house is the way to the underworld, going down to the rooms of death. Proverbs 7:27 Bible in Basic English

Clarke's Commentary on the Bible
Her house is the way to hell - שאול sheol, the pit, the grave, the place of the dead, the eternal and infernal world. And they who, through such, fall into the grave, descend lower, into the chambers of death; the place where pleasure is at an end, and illusion mocks no more.

We also have in the book of 2 Peter 2:4 about the rebellious fallen angels who are at present in a compartment of Hades called Tartarus.

World English Bible
For if God didn't spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 2 Peter 2:4

And here a chilling verse:
Sheol from beneath is excited for you to meet you at your coming: it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. They all shall speak and say unto you, have you also become weak as we? have you become like unto us? Isaiah 14:9 to 10, King James 2000 Bible (©2003)

This verse above tells us every lost soul who has ever lived wether rich or poor, kings or queens, rulers who believed they was invincible have now become weak and without strength, stripped of all natural strength, as well as of all civil power and authority: all in Hades have become the same.

This verse below reveals that Sheol/Hades is never full and continuously receives souls that never ends.
Sheol and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. Proverbs 27:20 King James 2000 Bible (©2003)

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
A grave is one particular cavity purposely digged for the interment of a dead person; "sheol" is a collective name for all the graves. He that is in the grave is in "sheol;" but he that is in "sheol" may not be in a grave, but in any pit, or in the sea. In short, it is the region of the dead; which is figuratively considered as a city or large habitation with gates and bars in which there are many chambers Proverbs 7:27.' "Sheol" is never full, but is always asking or craving more Proverbs 27:20; Hebrews 2:5

Then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of long ago. I will make you dwell in the earth below, as in ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, and you will not return or take your place in the land of the living. Ezekiel 26:20

World English Bible
Yahweh, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
Young's Literal Translation
Jehovah, Thou hast brought up from Sheol my soul, Thou hast kept me alive, From going down to the pit.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
O, Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave - My life; me. The meaning is, that he had been in imminent danger of death, and had been brought from the borders of the grave. The word here rendered "grave" is "Sheol" - a word which, properly used, commonly denotes the region of the dead; the underworld which is entered through the grave. Compare Isaiah 14:9, note; Psalm 6:5, note.

Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave,.... When his life being in danger, was near unto it, Job 33:22; otherwise the soul dies not, nor does it lie and sleep in the grave; or "thou hast brought up my soul from hell" (m); that is, delivered him from those horrors of conscience and terrors of mind, by reason of sin, which were as hell itself unto him; see Psalm 116:3;
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia reads
Main article: Tartarus
In classic Greek mythology, below Heaven, Earth, and Pontus is Tartarus, or Tartaros (Greek Τάρταρος, deep place). It is either a deep, gloomy place, a pit or abyss used as a dungeon of torment and suffering that resides within Hades (the entire underworld) with Tartarus being the hellish component. In the Gorgias, Plato (c. 400 BC) wrote that souls were judged after death and those who received punishment were sent to Tartarus. As a place of punishment, it can be considered a hell. The classic Hades, on the other hand, is more similar to Old Testament Sheol.

More evidence of a literal place.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43

When Jesus was crucified his dead body was laid in a tomb, Matthew 27:60. His spirit went back to the father Matthew 27:50. but his soul and the thief, both there souls went to the Bosom of Abraham, where the righteous occupied an abode or compartment also called paradise. Matthew 12:40, 1 Peter 3:19, Matthew 27:51, Ephesians 4:8 - 9, NKJV.

Did Caiaphas convert to Christianity?

I also discovered that certain scholars believe Caiaphas eventually lost his position as high priest after converting to Christianity and was secretly baptized Galatians 1:18-23.Ref: Caiaphas: friend of Rome and judge of Jesus? By Helen Katharine Bond

It was said by By: Richard , Samuel KraussGottheil
later in the Syrian Church that he had been converted to Christianity, and was identical with the historian Josephus Flavius (Assemani, "Bibl. Orient." ii. 156, iii. 522; Solomon of Bassora, "The Book of the Bee," ed. Budge, tr. p. 94). His house outside Jerusalem is still (1902) shown.

Furthermore I discovered in

THE GOSPEL OF NICODEMUS, OR ACTS OF PILATE there is evidence to support this, as it is written there the Jews arrested Joseph, from the city of Arimathaea, who was a counsellor, for they was vexed against him, as he begged the body of Jesus and laid it in his own new tomb. So they put him in a house with no windows, and guards were set at the door: and they sealed the door of the place where Joseph was shut in by Caiaphas keeping the Key.

This is interesting as in the gospels there is no mention of Joseph of Arimathaea any more after he roles the stone and leaves his tomb.

But THE GOSPEL OF NICODEMUS, seems to fill in a logical explanation of why Joseph of Arimathaea goes silent in the 4 gospels at this point in time.
After the Sabbath day we read the rulers of the synagogue and the priests and the Levites had a meeting to discus what death they should use to kill Joseph of Arimathaea. However after the council was sent, they commanded he be brought back for sentencing. On arival they found the door was still locked with the guards out side but he was gone, yet the door was still sealed.

In short it continues to say that the chief priests and the rulers of the synagogue and the elders gathered together in the synagogue, to discuss the resurection and the where about's of Jesus. After being told by Nicodemus that they saw Jesus upon the mount Mamilch with his disciples and that he taught them all things and saw him taken up into heaven. The elders and the priests still refuse to believe, so they sent man out in the whole of Israel to find Jesus but could not find him, instead they found Joseph in his own town of Arimathaea,

We are then told that the rulers of the synagogue and the priests and the Levites write a letter to send to Joseph of Arimathaea, saying sorry to him begging him to come back peacefully so that they may discover how he escaped.

Joseph, and Nicodemus arrange for Annas and Caiaphas and the elders of the priests and the Levites to meet at Nicodemus house to have a great feast, after eating and drinking with Joseph they had sung hymns and blessed God and then departed to there homes. But Joseph stayed at the house of Nicodemus.

The next day Annas and Caiaphas and the elders of the priests and the Levites all returned to ask Joseph how he escaped. While Joseph sat between Annas and Caiaphas,

I stood and prayed the house wherein ye shut me up was taken up, he states.

Joseph tells them, at midnight of the Sabbath while he was praying a miracle happened.

The four corners, were a flashing of light in his eyes and being filled with fear I fell to the earth. And one took me by the hand and removed me from the place whereon I had fallen; and moisture of water was shed on me from my head unto my feet, and an odour of ointment came about my nostrils. And he wiped my face and kissed me and said unto me: Fear not, Joseph: open thine eyes and see who it is that speaketh with thee. And I looked up and saw Jesus and I trembled, and supposed that it was a spirit: and I said the commandments: and he said them with me. And [as] ye are not ignorant that a spirit, if it meet any man and hear the commandments, straightway fleeth. And when I perceived that he said them with me, I said unto him: Rabbi Elias? And he said unto me: I am not Elias. And I said unto him: Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me: I am Jesus, whose body thou didst beg of Pilate, and didst clothe me in clean linen and cover my face with a napkin, and lay me in thy new cave and roll a great stone upon the door of the cave. And I said to him that spake with me: Show me the place where I laid thee. And he brought me and showed me the place where I laid him, and the linen cloth lay therein, and the napkin that was upon his face. And I knew that it was Jesus. And he took me by the hand and set me in the midst of mine house, the doors being shut, and laid me upon my bed and said unto me: Peace be unto thee. And he kissed me and said unto me: Until forty days be ended go not out of thine house: for behold I go unto my brethren into Galilee.

XVI
1 And when the rulers of the synagogue and the priests and the Levites heard these words of Joseph the became as dead men and fell to the ground, and they fasted until the ninth hour. And Nicodemus with Joseph comforted Annas and Caiaphas and the priests and the Levites, saying: Rise up and stand on your feet and taste bread and strengthen your souls, for tomorrow is the Sabbath of the Lord. And they rose up and prayed unto God and did eat and drink, and departed every man to his house.

THE GOSPEL OF NICODEMUS, OR ACTS OF PILATE
From "The Apocryphal New Testament"
M.R. James-Translation and Notes
Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1924

So from the account above which confirms with others we read that it could be from this point on, Annas and Caiaphas eyes and hearts began to open and may of converted to Christianity.

There is also another interesting fact that sheds light on this.

Ossuary of Caiaphas
In November 1990, in a burial cave in the south of Jerusalem, construction workers made an amazing discovery. They discovered a burial cave and in side they found a beautiful ossuary containing the bones of the famous high priest Caiaphas. The very same person in John 18:12. Caiaphas the High Priest, who was one of Annas’ son in laws. and involved with Annas in the arrest of Jesus.

HERE WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY ROCK SOLID EVIDENCE yet again of a man who was mentioned many times in the new tastament who met Jesus face to face.

What is also interesting, is we know that the Ancient Jews gathered bones into bone boxes called ossuaries after a year or so. WHY? Because they believed by preserving there bones they would be ready for the resurrection. And remember that Caiaphas and Annas’ and sons did not believe in the resurrection.

They denied the resurrection of the body in Mat 22:23, Luke 20:27, Acts 4:1-2, 23:8.

Yet 2000 years later we find the bones of Caiaphas and his family in ossuaries. Meaning they could of very well converted to Christianity.

START PART 6

Now dear reader I sincerely hope that having read this article you have searched and found, seen and believed.

I believe that every person who desires to save his own soul must dig deep to find the truth always keeping our hearts open to Gods’ word while praying for the Spirit of God to lead us and guide us in all truth.

We do not want to be deceived or misled or even have the awful experience of waking up like the rich man to find that he is our neighbour!!!!

‘Hell, unfortunately, has no fire exits’ – (Cathy Khan)

Below is a prayer that expresses acknowledgment and repentance from sin. Sin is something we all do everyday which makes us all sinners. But we can be saved from the fiery furnace of Hell when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and turn to him and become one of his followers. Christians everywhere have prayed a prayer similar to this and today if you want to become a Christian then from your heart just pray this prayer. God will hear you and see your heart for he loved you before even time began. He knows everything about you, yes, the good the bad and the ugly yet his mercy covers all of your sin and wrong doing.

Dear Father,

I now believe that Jesus Christ is Your only begotten Son, that He came down to our earth in the flesh and died on the cross to take away all of my sins and the sins of this world. I believe that Jesus Christ then rose from the dead on the third day to give all of us eternal life.

I now confess to you all of the wrong and sinful things that I have ever done in my life. I ask that you please forgive me and wash away all of my sins by the blood that you have personally shed for me on the cross. I am now ready to accept you as my personal Lord and Savior. I now ask that you come into my life and live with me for all of eternity.

Father, Jesus – I now believe that I am truly saved and born again.

Thank You Father.
Thank You Jesus.

If you have just prayed that prayer then that is wonderful. Your next step is to find others and join with them in the family of Christ. You can find your family by finding a good church where you feel comfortable and at home. Try a few as they vary in style.

Simon the Leper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Simon the Leper is a biblical figure mentioned by the Gospels according to Matthew (26:6-13) and Mark (14:3-9). These two books narrate how Jesus made a visit to the house of Simon the Leper at Bethany during the course of which a woman anoints the head of Jesus with costly ointment. Bethany was the home of Simon the Leper as well as Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. The Gospel according to John (12:1-8) recounts that Mary, Martha and Lazarus attended a supper for Jesus Christ six days before the Passover and Crucifixion of Jesus. Martha served. According to John's Gospel, the feet of Jesus were also anointed. Comparing them suggests that Judas Iscariot and other disciples of Jesus also attended and protested the costly anointing of Jesus.

Simon the Leper is sometimes identified with Simon the Pharisee (see Shimon ben Gamliel), who is mentioned in the Gospel of Luke (7:36-50) as the host of a meal during which the feet of Jesus are anointed by a woman.[1] Because of these similarities, efforts have been made to reconcile the events and characters but some scholars have pointed out differences between the two events.[2] An alternative explanation for the similarities is that the Luke 7 anointing and the anointing at Bethany (Matthew 26:6, Mark 14:3, John 12:1) happened with some of the same participants, but several years apart.[3]

Simon the Leper is also sometimes identified as the same person as Lazarus of Bethany, or identified as his father or brother. This is because Matthew and Mark mention Simon, while John mentions Lazarus, but all four gospels assume one lodging at Bethany during the last week. Abbé Drioux identified all three as one: Lazarus of Bethany, Simon the Leper of Bethany, and the Lazarus of the parable, on the basis that in the parable Lazarus is depicted as a leper, and due to a perceived coincidence between Luke 16:30 and John 12:10 - where after the raising of Lazarus, Caiaphas and Annas tried to have him killed.[4]

The meaning of his nickname the Leper is sometimes questioned because of the outcast status of lepers. Reinterpretations include that of the potter[5] or the Essene.

Some assume that Simon had been healed of his leprosy by Jesus, but the name was attached to him perhaps due to the length of his condition or to distinguish him from Simon Peter, or other Simons of the time. However the Gospels do not include an account of his healing, unless, that is, alternatively, Simon and Lazarus were the same person.

Christian legend

Later Christian traditions held that Simon travelled to France, having landed at the mouth of the Rhône with St. Lazarus and Mary, sister of Lazarus, was the earliest apostle of Maguelonne. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

THE SO CALLED ''MISSING LINKS'' TO EVOLUTION THAT FOOLED THE DUMB SCIENTIST

-----------------------------------------------------

IF THE BIBLE IS TRUE, THEN WE CAN SEE THE EVIDENCE.
IF THE BIBLE IS NOT TRUE, THAN WE WILL NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT.
MOST PEOPLE KNOW EVIDENCE PROVES THINGS TO BE TRUE.
HAVE WE SEEN ANY EVIDENCE. THAT PROVES THE BIBLE?
YES WE CAN STILL SEE 1000'S OF YEARS LATER THE STAGGERING EVIDENCE TO PROVE EVERY STORY OF THE BIBLE.
The many bible discoveries and information on this web site proves the Holy Bible to be forensically accurate and perfectly reliable in every possible way and in every detail truthful concerning the most important events in human history.
The whole purpose of this website is to help bring people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Some need evidence, others do not. I hope that the evidence shown on this site helps you make a decision for the Lord.
When we “believe” that Jesus Christ truly died on the cross for our sins and if we believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and follow Him by taking up our cross, you shall be saved.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Some need physical proof... well here it is. Some simply believe. The Bible says, “Blessed are those who have not seen, yet hath believed.” Whether you believe what I’ve shared in this website or not, and you have not yet received this free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, now is the day. Let today be the day of your salvation!
If you are looking for the evidence of the bible, God or Jesus, here it is. It is time to turn away from our sins, believe and receive salvation, and follow Jesus. Amen.

Re: Shocking Discovery and facts about Luke 16:19, The Ri...
Hi Simon:

Thank you for sending us information about Lazarus.

Here is the part I do not agree on. The word HADES means the grave. It is similar to the Hebrew word SHEOL. The Bible teaches us that the dead are not conscious, but in a state similar to being asleep until they are resurrected.

Jesus went to Hades. The Bible says:
ACTS 2:31
Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not left in HADES, nor did his body see decay.

We cannot say that Jesus went to Gehenna (the lake of fire), the place where evil people like the rich man are condemned to go, usually translated as hell.

Please write back to us.

God bless you and keep you.

Tom

dear Simon
you have made a valient effort to show it is just about possible, but the impression is that this was a starving poor man (wanting dogs crumbs) who was neglected at the gates and died there, whereas the other Lazarus was well-off, he had family only a few miles away at Bethany he could have called upon for help and was sick and died at Bethany.

Shalom my friend! Wow that is a lot of research you did on this project! Well done my friend.
I had some time to read the whole thing this morning and I would like to go over it again and absorb what you said about it all. Very interesting and I never thought of them being possibly the same Lazarus. Did you know Lazarus is Eleazar in Hebrew? So when they found his ossuary near mary and martha it said Eleazar on it. Very interesting idea you came up with and all the facts of research. I know how time consuming it is to do research but don't you love it when the LORD reveals stuff to you! How cool!
I love to read about this stuff and you have put together a lot of work which I commend you for!
Well done my friend! It is quite fascinating and brilliant! I want to go over it again and read it several times more. You always bless me with your work! Shalom with Love Kimberly!

Truth springs from the earth, And righteousness looks down from heaven. Psalm 85:11
Barnes' Notes on the Bible: Truth shall spring out of the earth - As plants do - for this is the meaning of the word. The blessings of truth and righteousness would be like the grass, the shrubs, the flowers, which spring up from the ground - and like the, rain and the sunbeams which come from heaven. Truth would spring up everywhere, and abound in all lands, as plants, and shrubs, and grass spring up all over the earth.
